WHAT GOD IS TEACHING ME ABOUT LIFE AND MYSELF

Notice I titled this post, what God IS teaching me about myself rather than taught me. Still learning over here…. Attitude is everything, no matter what you’re doing in life, the way you approach a situation is everything. If you start your day thinking negative thoughts, “Great it’s Monday again, I have so much work” then guess what? Your day/week is going to start off on a bad note. The way you start your day truly affects the rest of your day. I never start my day on my phone, I don’t scroll through social media until the very end of my morning, I don’t…

MINIMIZING IN A BIG CITY

Moving to San Francisco has really inspired me to minimize my consumption of junk and wasteful products. I wrote a blog post about Ridding your life of stuff earlier this year which ties really well into this post. I love that this city cares so much about recycling, composting and being eco friendly. It’s been a huge eye opener to me and lately I’ve been doing so much research on sustainability, eco friendly products and ways to minimize waste. I’m not perfect so I will not feel guilt for forgetting to take my grocery bags to the store one time but I will start making…

LEARNING TO SEE THE GOOD IN EVERYDAY LIFE

I was hesitant about writing this post because I am human and I don’t always see the good in everyday life. I have my days where I am annoyed and hate everything but I have days where I see life for what it really is: a true blessing. This post was inspired from a book i recently read “Kisses from Katie.” I’m sad I didn’t read this book sooner when it first came out but like a friend said, “Right now is the perfect time in God’s eyes, that’s why.” I won’t dive deep into the book because my words won’t do it justice but…

HOW I SLOWLY FELL IN LOVE WITH RUNNING

I’ve always hated running, ever since I was in elementary and we had to run relay races, I was always the slowest runner and I gave up so quickly. It’s taken me so long to learn to push myself mentally and physically when it comes to running and that’s what I’ve learned to love the most about this running journey. A couple of months ago, I started running a mile every day on the treadmill, my mph was atrocious (12mph), but little by little I started pushing myself a bit more, adding more miles to my run. Shortly after, my boyfriend pushed me to go…

FALL FAVORITES

Fall is slowly approaching and I’m so so excited because this is my absolute favorite season, even though we don’t actually get the feel of fall in Miami. One of my goals this year is to slowly minimize my life, whether that be my home, my closet, and my mind. Fashion I started with my closet, I’ve been discarding any items that I no longer find useful and started purchasing timeless pieces with better quality even if they’re a bit pricier. I don’t know about you but I have about 100 pieces of clothing items but only stick to about 8 of them for both…

THIS YEAR’S CHEESY VALENTINE’S DAY SURPRISE FOR HIM

I’m not one to make Valentine’s day a big deal. However, this year I decided it was time to bring the romance and try something new for my boyfriend. Between moving to a new apartment and getting a new job, we haven’t made time to go on an actual date, so this was the perfect day to do something special. I didn’t go crazy because after all it’s only one day and since we both having full-time jobs we would only be spending 2-3 hours at night together, but it was a nice surprise and he was very appreciative of the effort. I made dinner…

MY GUT ISSUES/TOP 6 FAVORITE HEALTH AND WELLNESS BLOGS

I’ve always been curious about health and wellness. I read medicine books, listen to podcasts about nutrition and now in this digital era we have all the health and wellness information we can get on social media. I’ve used Instagram as a way to get food recipes, workout ideas, nutrition facts, just about anything related to health. Lately, I’ve been on a huge nutrition kick due to health issues. For those of you who don’t know I’ll give you a quick overview. While I was in college I was vegan, which lasted about 3 years. I found myself very healthy at the time, I was…

13 THOUGHTS FOR THIS 23-YEAR-OLD

It seems like 22 passed by in the blink of an eye. Now I’m 23 and I’m going to try my best to truly appreciate it. I spent my birthday (December 30th) with family surrounded by a fire followed by an amazing homemade meal. It’s been years since I’ve spent a birthday in Florida, nonetheless with a home cooked meal rather than a fancy restaurant. And I will say this was one of my favorite birthdays yet, no stuffy restaurant or fancy gifts can replace the warm feeling of being with family and just enjoying each others company in 40 degree weather. Although 23 is still young,…

SAN FRANCISCO + TATIANA VILCHEZ

Where were you born? San Francisco, CA School and major? I just received my AS degree in Social and Behavioral sciences from City College of San Francisco. I am now working towards a bachelor’s degree in Marketing. Why did you decide to make a move to San Francisco after high school? San Francisco has had my heart since the first time I visited in 2001. I always had the desire to move back and attend college there but it never seemed realistic to me. During my senior year of high school, I decided to look at colleges and booked a flight with my mom to San…
